Mid to late 2022 we were contacted to provide a quote to upgrade the phone system for a reginal business providing services to farms in the Western District of Victoria.

We lost this job to a national competitor with an office in Geelong. I can only assume this was based on price.

A few months later we were contacted by this business to urgently help them with getting their phone system working for their business as the previous installation, just a few months ago had not helped them achieve the outcome they desperately needed.

From our on site audit we found that the previous service provider had just sold some phones and a second internet service with 4G back up. This is as basic as it sounds, problem is, no thought went in to how the phones were going to work.

A desk phone was installed to the back office and connected via WiFi to the modem, modem location is in the main office 40m away with two corrugated tin walls between. It’s safe to say this didn’t provide for a great experience. The internet service with 4G backup was installed in the main office where there is no 4G signal! It was never going to work.

Key issues:

1- Poor internet reception in second office area.

2- Phone not working for days at a time or dropping out mid call, then unable to phone back.

3- Each time there was a power flick the phones would drop out and needed to be reset manually, bad luck if it was after hours or on a weekend and we didn’t know. Affected our business as people could not contact us. Some thought we had closed down.

4- Hard to contact service provider for help on basic issues.

This included extra cabling needed to properly service the back office with hard wired connections for phone & data.

Remove the 4G and second internet connection and consolidate onto the existing NBN internet.
